Membership in the Graystone Society is used to help cover general administration costs. Your support allows for the opening of our properties to the general public and coordination of our education programs such as …
Fall will bring plenty of events beginning on September 11th with the anniversary of the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and our second Coatesville Remembers commemoration event. Also in September Gene DiOrio will present his second Travel Lecture of the year, and we will host our inaugural Golf Outing at the Merion Golf Club on September 27th. In October we will hold the first of two Fall Lectures and a special trip to the World Trade Center Memorial in New York City is scheduled. Planned for October is another new event, the inaugural Fall Festival and Lukens Reunion, a barbecue cookout to see old friends and renew acquaintances. November keeps the activities going with the second Fall Lecture and our second Volunteer Day, where you can again get hands on with the Lukens National Historic District. Once again we look to close out the year with our traditional Holiday Open House in December where you can bring in the holiday season, and help the less fortunate of our community with a donation to the local food cupboard.
There is one benefit of membership that is not as tangible, but is easily the most important. At The Graystone Society, we feel that we are about more than just the physical restoration of historic buildings and the acquisition of artifacts. We are most of all about restoration of the pride felt in hard work well done, and the reacquisition of our shared heritage and history.
We hope you will join us.
None of this would be possible without the help of our Members. We hope you will join us in 2011.
